Church: No expansion plans in Menlo Park

Update: The Menlo Park Presbyterian Church says it has "no plans at this time" to develop or expand on or around its Santa Cruz Avenue campus in Menlo Park.

Looks like the church is covering for the city staff. After the Downtown Alliance came out with its statement about how the EIR didn't include the church's expansion plans, I'm betting somebody at the city called the church and asked them to put out this statement. With a wink, the church was probably told that they can bring back their expansion plans after the dust settles. Hope the Almanac or Daily Post dig deeper into this story. Sounds fishy to me.

If a year or two downstream, the parking structure idea resurfaces, it wouldn't be the first time someone has said, "I didn't have any plans then to . . . but my thinking has changed in the meantime.

A grain of rumor turns into a mountain of hot air.

The Downtown Alliance seems desperate when it has to bring up unfounded rumors like this. This doesn't look good for the status quo. NIMBYS beware, there in change in the air.
