Menlo Park plans third outreach on golf club well

Original post made on Feb 23, 2012

It'll take a little while longer before the Menlo Park City Council gets a chance to decide whether to pursue a partnership with the Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club to build a well to draw water from a public aquifer to irrigate the private golf course and potentially four public facilities.

Is this the same Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club that asked to remove 82 heritage trees? Web Link

How many times does the city and the golf course have to reach out to the community? Based upon the first two outreach meetings, and presentations to the P&R and Environmental Commission the residents don't want a well at the park.

There are no real benefits to the city.

Linfield:

if past practice is any predictor, they will keep "reaching out" until they wear everyone down so they can go ahead and do what they want instead of what the citizens want. They played the same game back in 1999 or 2000 when they wanted to stick low income housing into the parking plaza at Crane and Oak Grove. Enough of us kept up our objections and didn't wear down so Chuck Kinney finally had to give up.

This third meeting is a waste of money and time. We don't want to give the country club the water from under our homes, we don't want our streets dug up to provide a pipeline to do so. We don't want the city to continue this sham. This delay is to give the city more busy work to justify the bloated payroll and staff. STOP THE WELL NOW!
