I greatly fear what would get done in Sacramento with Mr. Yang in the assembly. the further gutting of our public school systems and a transportation network based on airports and freeways. We need fewer Republicans in Sacramento, not more Republicans.

[Portion deleted. Insulting a poster.] The state had something like a $26B budget shortfall this past year. Where do YOU believe we should get the money for our schools? How about getting rid of some of the bloated administrators that FAR outnumber any admin to teacher ratio versus any of the other 49 states? How about we clamp down on the outrageous pensions of teachers and government workers? Our pension liability is thru the roof! How about taking care of tenure, so that we are not paying outrageous sums to bad employees, or teachers that aren't allowed to teach but are still paid because of the illustrious teacher's union. These are ALL Democratic programs, you guys LOVE your programs! Our problem is a spending problem, and you and your Democratic buddies have ruined this state believing that there are trees somewhere in this state that grow money. For you to accuse the Republican Party of not funding the schools is an outright lie!

I was in a group who spoke out against Rich Gordon while he was supervisor, and whenever he had to appear at a hearing for a particularly controversial topic,he was a "no show". He was very tight with the Bldg.Dept in the areas he covered and was known to appear anywhere that offered a photo op like a ribbon cutting.He was loathed by most of the people who knew him on the areas of the coast because he was suspected of taking bribes and those members who worked in Redwood City and almost every one of his staff handed in inspection reports and one in particular, was seen at a political gathering and was sipping something and saying too much.

Rich Gordon overplays his hand where he and his partner are concerned regarding a two male partnership just to prove how open minded the County is. My father is gay so I do not bear any malice and like all of his friends.

The tunnel project which cost hundreds of millions and was to open two years ago, is still not complete at Devil's Slide going to Half Moon Bay and Pacifica.

When asked about it, he either avoided answering and finally put all of his time to becoming Assemblyman.

Meanwhile, coastal citizens have nothing but horrible things to say to him on several projects he promised to push and never did.

Mr. Mayer, I am perplexed that you will assume that I, as a father of two kids, the only candidate with kids in the race, and a product of the public school system, will gut education. Maybe it is time to set aside your irrational fears and your Democratic Party talking points and come speak with me.

Mr. Mayer:

are you out of your mind? The democrats have dominated the legislature in this state forever. The Democrats OWN this mess not the republicans. Please enlighten us as to how the Repubicans in the legislature have created this mess. Is it because they have a majority? Oh, that's right, they don't. Is it because they have control over key committees? Oh, yeah, they don't. So, just how did the Republicans create this mess?

Menlo Voter, you're conveniently forgetting that the Republicans didn't have to be in the majority in the legislature to torpedo revenue-generating bills and budgets that would have been more generous toward education. The tyranny of the minority has been the rule because of the need for two-thirds approvals of many bills involving revenue and passing the budget.

And thank goodness for that requirement. We already live in one of the most heavily taxed states in the union. If the democrats had a free hand it would be even worse. The problem isn't revenue generation, it's over spending. A big piece of that spending is mandatory spending brought on by initiatives approved by the voters. Approved by them because the legislature can't get anything done. On top of that are the mandatory spending for wages, benefits and retirements for state employees. All of which were granted by a democratically controlled legislature. Sorry, "its all the republicans' fault" just doesn't fly.
