Portola Valley cyclist struck, killed on Skyline Boulevard

The life of Thomas Colby Maddox came to an untimely end Saturday, July 15, after the Portola Valley resident and cyclist was struck by a car three days earlier while cycling with a longtime friend on Skyline Boulevard in Woodside, just north of Highway 84.

No, this is what happens when drivers use poor judgement. The cyclist had a legal right to be on the road. This driver, had she used better judgement and shared the road with the cyclist, would have slowed down, waited a minute or so, then passed in a safer zone. Instead, she will have to live the rest of her life with the fact that she killed someone. Was it worth it?
