Military jets overhead -- what?

Did anyone hear/see the military jets screaming overhead in the early afternoon today? They were heading north, and I'm curious as to their purpose and destination. Anyone know what it was all about? Is there an air show they might have been going to?

They periodically (every few months or so) do training runs out of Moffett Field - I believe in response to 9/11 (or at least that's when I first started noticing them).

When they first did one after 9/11, I (like a lot of people) immediately called up KCBS radio in a panic thinking something was happening in the city. Even today, when I hear them scream overhead, I will immediately turn on my radio or TV - just in case.
