Assembly race: Gordon, Yang to face off
Menlo Park, posted by Editor, The Almanac Online, on Jun 7, 2012 at 7:21 am

The only question regarding the District 24 state Assembly election Tuesday was which of the three political novices in the race would run in November against Rich Gordon, a former San Mateo County supervisor and current first-term assemblyman. Rich Gordon does not live in the city of Menlo Park. He lives in unicorporated Menlo Park. Rich is the genius who gave us the bulbout on Alameda de las Pulgas at Avy without consulting with the neighbors. There was a torrent of complaints because drivers started using Alschul as an alternative to Avy and families who were used to a quiet street where their children could safely play now felt that their children were at risk to the increase in traffic caused by the bulbout.

Rich Gorden is one of those arrogant politicians who thinks he knows better than his constituents. What we need is someone who will actually listen to the people he or she represents and work in their best interests. We don't need someone who thinks he knows best without consulting with the people he represents.

I think it is time to give all arrogant career politicians the heave-ho and vote in people who care, listen, and be an advocate for their constiituents' wishes. That is why I am voting for George Yang. He is a bright, thoughtful, caring person who wants to serve the people and not be Lord and master over them.
