Washing cars at home wastes a lot of water. The big commercial car washes recycle their water, which is important during a drought. And the commercial car washes cost a lot less (with the ever present coupons) than the prices listed here.

What a great business idea for young entrepreneurs, and a great learning opportunity. I have no connection with Park, but wanted to express my support. Considering the convenience the prices are great. Good luck with your venture.

Any reason the Almanac is promoting this business for free? Parents well connected in the community? I'll bet there are a lot of teens who'd love to get free publicity in our local newspaper.

Washing cars at home CAN waste a lot of water, but doesn't have to.

I wet my car down and wash it in three parts -- front, roof and the rest. Three rinses and it's done. I can't remember the last time any rinse water even made it down my driveway and into the gutter.

I also wash it about once every three months.
