Dear Board,

Will you please look into this announcement by our Sheriff' Office. As it is turning out this man has been deemed mentally unfit to assist in his own defense. He has a history of failure to comply with probation which is understandable and predictable if he is M. unfit. To date the Sheriff's Office has been unable to verify the Violent description, and he has several indecent exposures and that's about it. Here is what was reported in our news.

"A parolee with a history of violence and sex offenses escaped early this morning from a mental health facility in unincorporated Redwood City, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. Derrick Sanders, 34, was found missing from the Cordilleras Mental Health Facility at 200 Edmonds Road around 4 a.m. today, said Lt. Larry Schumaker. Sanders, a transient who frequents both San Mateo and Alameda counties, has a history of violence, weapons and sex offenses and currently faces a misdemeanor charge for an alleged sex offense against a minor in San Mateo County, as well as a parole violation, Schumaker said."

The great news is this man was found safe in one day, now lets make sure our Law Enforcement statements are correct.

You would think a Violent, High Risk Sex Offender would be in the California Megan's Law System. Not the case concerning Derrick Sanders
