For 2012-13FY, The Sequoia Healthcare District website states the following:
Sequoia Healthcare District 2012-13 FY
Total Community Support - $10.6 million
Property Tax - $8.6 million
“One dollar and twenty–seven cents returned for every tax dollar collected”
What they don’t tell you:
Taking 2012/2013 budgeted expenses of $11,607,766 and subtracting Total Community Support of $10.6 million we find $1,007,766 in expenses not going to the Community.
Come to Wednesday’s meeting and see what a big fat raise the CEO is getting! (current salary is $159,500)

The Sequoia Healthcare District website Web Link claims a Total Community Support of $10.6 million for FY 2012-2013. That figure assumes that the $1,000,000 spent on Nursing Education will result in 100% of the graduate nurses working in the District. That is no where close to reality. See: Web Link A 50% figure would be an overestimate. Of more than 300 graduate nurses, only 64 are currently employed at Sequoia Hospital.
The District also claims that 100% of the expenditures for the Heartsafe and Healthy Schools Initiative are supporting the community. That is simply not the case. Payroll costs for Program Directors and a dietician total more than $200,000/year. Membership in RWC 2020 costs another $20,000. Health insurance adds another $20,000. Seminars, conference attendance, program PR expenses, cell phones, gym subsisies, etc. add 10's of thousands more. I have asked the District to provide me with a copy of the General Ledger covering the past two years so that I might provide the public with more accurate figures. Their stonewalling has forced me to resort to a Public Records Act request again. My last request was made in 2011. The District's response to that request can be found at Web Link
The Districts claim of Total Community Support of $10.6 million for FY 2012-2013 is overstated by ~$1,000,000.

I ask those of you reading this topic to send a message to the Directors of the Sequoia Healthcare District Web Link asking that they put more financial information on their website. It would only take a few keystrokes to post the General Ledger information for the past two years, and update it once a month. They will not listen to this Director. Perhaps they will listen to you.

The Sequoia Healthcare District website Web Link states the following:
"Located in the Belle Haven area of Menlo Park, the Ravenswood Family Health Center offers medical and dental services to hundreds of lower income residents from that community. The Sequoia Healthcare District provides $250,000 in annual support."
On that page they have a link to the Ravenswood Family Health Center: Web Link A look at ABOUT/Who We Serve shows their contact information,
Ravenswood Family Health Center
1798A Bay Road
East Palo Alto, CA 94303
Tel: 650.330.7400
Fax: 650.321.1156
info@ravenswoodfhc.org
and states that "RFHC serves a culturally diverse area with a growing population of immigrants. Most of our patients live in southeast San Mateo County.
Not only is the RFHC located in East Palo Alto (not Menlo Park as shown on the SHCD website), but a major portion of their patients reside in East Palo Alto and a large portion of eastern Menlo Park. These areas are not in the Sequoia Healthcare District, yet District taxpayers are subsidizing their care.
