Attempted Abduction of 5 year old Boy

Original post made by MP Mom on Nov 5, 2012

2.5 Days after an attempted abduction, a notice is sent to local parents about a child almost kidnapped in front of his house.

Can't we get more timely notices? Why is this not in the Almanac?

------To school district parents & community:

The Atherton Police Department have advised us that on 11/03/12 at approximately 10:17 AM, a female suspect offered a 5 year old boy candy to get into her vehicle. The child walked away and told his/her parents. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office was notified.

This occurred at 2043 Oakley in West Menlo Park. It is near the intersection of Alameda De Las Pulgas and Valparaiso Ave. It did not occur at a school or in the Menlo Park City School District boundaries but because of the proximity we wanted to share the information.

SUSPECT: Hispanic or Asian female, middle aged, short black hair wearing a grey shirt.
SUSPECT VEHICLE: very old faded light blue minivan, possibly had a car seat in the back

Please take precautionary measures with your children to and from school and in your neighborhood. Tomorrow, we will be on heightened alert related to this information.

Sincerely,

Maurice Ghysels
