SHP sends a top volleyball duo to the Ivy League

Ellie Shannon and Payton Smith have been a formidable duo during their three varsity seasons on the Sacred Heart Prep girls' volleyball squad. Their excellent efforts, both on the court and in the classroom, have been rewarded with respective opportunities to play volleyball next season in the Ivy League.

Congratulations to this dynamic duo! This is a great accomplishment, but I question its place in the news. Is SHP so lacking in good college admittances that when 2 students get into the Ivy League, it becomes news in the town paper? We have kids from our neighborhood public schools and other private schools going to Stanford and the Ivies all the time and yet we don't read about it here....
