A pause in Portola Valley's affordable housing plans
Portola Valley, posted by Editor, The Almanac Online, on Dec 18, 2012 at 2:17 pm

Public comment on the proposal to buy a former plant nursery for use as an affordable housing site reflected pro and con arguments, but most speakers opposed it, many of them residents of Wyndham Drive.

I think we should change the name of this community to Nimby Valley. Al's is the perfect site for a small cluster of moderate income housing. Centrally located, discreet, a neighborhood unto itself. A more perfect site I cannot imagine. But the sound of locally jerking knees can be heard all the way to Windy Hill - not here, not near my property, not in my town. Well, it's the law, and if we let this option go a-glimmering, we'll deserve what we get instead.

What would happen if all of the cities in this state said "to hell with it! We're not going to do it. Sue us." You honestly think the state is going to do it? Or, will they change the law seeing that given the refusal by everyone to obey it, it is essentially unenforceable?

This law is socialist nonsense. No one has a right to have someone else pay for them to live wherever they want. I want to live in Atherton, where's my affordable housing so I can?

Could not agree with you more Menlo Voter. This is ridiculous.
