Original post made on Apr 26, 2013

The Portola Valley Town Council has given its consent to proceed with plans for an eight-week trial run for a weekly Thursday afternoon farmers' market in Portola Valley. The market would tentatively run from 3 to 7 p.m. with as few as 15 or as many as 25 booths.

"I think it's really important that we carefully weigh the pros and cons," said another Hidden Valley resident. "I think it's possible that people outside of Portola Valley would come to this market."

There goes the neighborhood, outside people! Horrific idea indeed. Those outsiders must be the loud ones. Close the roads.

I think the concern (above) is not from the "outsiders" but from the increase of traffic (cars and bicyclists) and parking issues which come with non-local residents visiting the market. The main issues against the farmer's market are noise, traffic and parking. I have never attended a farmer's market where parking and traffic were not issues. We will see if these concerns are validated during the trial period.

"...traffic (cars and bicyclists) and parking issues which come with non-local residents..."
Even 'locals' would likely be driving or biking to the market. Let's close the roads in and out of Portola Valley so non-locals can't participate. ;-) is that what you are saying, Portola Valley Resident?
