The Rev. Michael Spillane to be Installed as New Rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church
Original post made by Linda Hubbard Gulker on Sep 5, 2007
Born in England to Irish immigrants, Spillane moved with his family to the Bronx and remains a dedicated Yankees fan. After graduating from the University of Dubeque, he lived in London where he was a police constable (London Bobby). While in London, he discerned a call to the ministry and came to Menlo Park to attend St. Patrick's Seminary, graduating in 1989. He was ordained an Episcopal priest in 1992 and served in the Diocese of Idaho before being called to Trinity earlier this year. He and his wife, Julie, have two school age children, Brendan and Kim.
Commenting on his call to Trinity and return to Menlo Park, Spillane said: "I now realize that in some sense everything that happens in our lives, from the mundane to the spectacular, is part of one's spiritual journey. It is an autobiography that we are all writing each day about how God is present in each moment of our lives, and more importantly, how we respond to that presence."
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (www.trinitymenlopark.org) was founded in 1884, one of the first congregations in the Diocese of California. The parish today consists of the church, Trinity School (preschool through 5th grade), and the Child and Family Institute. It is located at 330 Ravenswood Avenue. Sunday worship services are at 8:30 and 10:30 AM. For more information about the installation, call the church office: (650)326-2083.
