Recollection of old Atherton PD Case involving officer?

Original post made by Hmmm on Aug 9, 2013

Does anyone recall a case, more than 30 years ago, when an Atherton officer killed someone in self-defense and/or in defending his wife? I was very young at the time, so I don't recall all of the details, but I know he did time for it, and afterwards became an auto mechanic at a local garage. It was like something out of a scary movie, if I recall correctly.

I am asking here because I couldn't find anything online about it, and my parents were discussing it recently - none of us could recall accurate details.
