What Are The Cops Doing On Ravenswood Ave?
Menlo Park, posted by Curious, a resident of the Menlo Park: The Willows neighborhood, on Oct 5, 2007 at 10:37 pm

For the third time over the past week or so, I've seen a couple of cops hiding behind the bushes on that little street just beyond the railroad tracks when you're on Ravenwood Ave heading towards El Camino right around 5 PM.

Each time, I've seen that a couple of cars have been pulled over by the cops onto that street.

Can't tell if this is one of those "random stop" things (which would seem odd, given the time and location) or if these folks are being pulled over for something specific (illegal turn, no seatbelt, something to do with the pedestrian crossing on Ravenswood there).

Anybody have the "inside scoop" on what's going on?

They're probably enforcing the "Right Turn Only" signs at Ravenswood/Alma...drivers making a left onto Ravenswood from Alma as they pass the library are in violation of the signs at that corner from 4-6 pm. Read the signs everyone and be careful!

No, VJ, it can't be that - each time I've seen this, a couple of cars have been pulled over while I've never ever seen anyone trying to make that illegal left turn at that time - probably because the traffic is always so heavy then.

Just by what I saw, I tend to think this is just some random pullover to check your license/registration. It can't be for DUI, as this occurs at 5 PM - too early for that.
