The annual wood chipping program has begun for residents of Portola Valley and Woodside. The idea behind the program is to lower the threat of catastrophic wildfire by removing the fuel sources.
To find the schedule for your neighborhood, go to Web Link and click on the "2008 chipper dates" link.
Stack brush and tree limbs and branches with diameters 8 inches or less in a neat pile on the roadside with the ends facing the road. Piles should be no larger than 10 feet wide by 10 feet high.
Not allowed are poison oak and Eucalyptus bark, nor is wood with nails or screws acceptable.
The Woodside Fire Protection District runs the program.
