I can't help but feel sorry for these poor little boys whose gratification-driven parents keep them hopping all over the state. Most physiologists and children's psychologists will tell you that children that age should be involved in a variety of recreational activities. How pathetic that you parents not only need to bolster your own egos through this activity but also feel the need to boast about it on a public site.

I'm sorry but these boys are not only very good players but great friends who enjoy each others company. Before making comments such as these, take some time to watch them play and have fun - because really they do!

Before making comments on matters that involve children, one should make sure to get their facts right. In fact, I, as a parent coach, agree that 9yrs old should NOT travel and should play multiple sports. That is, in fact, how we have built this team. We have "travelled" only twice in the season, out of 10 games: once to Oakland and once to Santa Cruz. All of the boys play other sports, some do baseball, others swim, play tennis, etc. It just so happens that they love soccer and they care to be really good at it. We just let them follow their passion and be great if so they choose, shouldn't we?. You are welcome to come to our games, bring Not and see for yourself... btw, you will not have to travel, we play at Lyle Park.

In our small community it is great to recognize success and accomplishment. These boys work hard at a sport they love and they were very successful this past season. What's wrong with that? The kids are happy and they are having lots of FUN!!! IT IS NOT ABOUT PARENTS...
Instead of acting jealous and petty and writing about "gratification-driven parents" maybe we should say, "Good job boys! Good job coach! Keep up the great work. And, CONGRATULATIONS!!!"
