For the Almanac Staff- "...calls it Quits" is the best you could come up with for a title? Nice tribute for such a selfless THIRTY YEAR community servant!
I have known Commander Molakides since we worked for the city as teenagers. What amazes me to this day are not only her professional accomplishments, but raising a family, and earning both her undergraduate and graduate degrees while working full time; and not some regular M-F/9-5 type job, but one that is highly stressful and demanding. I have seen her under tremendous strain and pressure and Terri ALWAYS stayed calm, cool and collected. She is a mentor, coach, manager and leader, all the while being a graceful and dignified woman. I certainly hope the new "command staff" administration will settle in to continue the momentum Terri has built.
How nice for her to be able to retire at 50 and still receive what is essentially a full salary for the rest of her life--most likely many decades--while the rest of us work into our 70s to pay for her retirement.
The pension system is a disaster and needs to be fixed before other cities and special districts join Vallejo in bankruptcy. But that's for another thread.
Terri Molakides is a shining star in her field and an exemplary human being. I wish her all the best in her retirement and thank her for her years of tremendous commitment to public service.
Terri has been a credit to the PD and the city, and I'm sorry to see her go. She's a class act.
Terri -- thank you for your dedication and service to our community for the past 30 years. It goes without saying that your experience and leadership will be sorely missed. Menlo Park is a safer and better place as a result of your commitment and contributions.
Don't miss out on the discussion!
