Atherton released the following announcement:

The Town of Atherton is hosting a Public Workshop on the Housing Element Update on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Holbrook-Palmer Park Pavilion, 150 Watkins Avenue, Atherton.

State law requires Atherton and other California cities and counties to periodically update the Housing Element of their General Plan.  The Town is seeking input on the Housing goals, objectives and policies that will guide the future residential development of the community.

You are invited to a Public Meeting and Workshop where you will have an opportunity to share your thoughts on how Atherton should plan for the provision of housing for people of all income levels.  The workshop is hosted by the Atherton City Council.

The information obtained from the Workshop and other public input will be used to prepare a draft Housing Element Update that will be presented to the Atherton General Plan Committee, Planning Commission and City Council.

The housing element is long overdue. Atherton should get with the time, go green and have higher density. Elitism is no longer fashionable. Make it so that it isn't a crime to rent out your poolhouse.
