3 ways to find election-night results for the mid-peninsula

Original post made by The Media Center, another community, on Nov 6, 2006

On November 7, several city council seats on the mid-peninsula are contested, as well as school board and county posts. Bay Area news channels, with so many issues to cover, aren’t likely to give more than a passing reference to a measure in East Palo Alto or Menlo Park council race.

According to the County Elections Office, the reporting schedule for the November 7th Gubernatorial General will be as follows:

8:05 pm Absentee Ballots, Report #1 (everything received before Election Day)
8:30 pm Mail Ballot Precinct Results (36 precincts)
9:00 pm Absentee Ballots, Report #2 (everything processed Election Day)
9:30 pm Universal Voting Center Results (votes cast electronically at the UVCs)
10:30 pm Live Precinct Results
11:30 pm Live Precinct Results
12:30 pm Live Precinct Results
1:30 pm Live Precinct Results (they expect to be done by 2:00am)

We may know the results by 10:30pm if there is a strong trend, but depending on which precincts are reporting, we might not know for sure (at least for slot 3 in the council race until about 11:30pm or even 12:30am.

But many are betting it will be pretty clear by 10:30pm, based on precinct walking feedback that indicates it will be an uphill battle for the incumbent slate to stay in power.
