A Call for Pension Reform in San Mateo County

Original post made by John P. Johns, CPA, another community, on Apr 28, 2010

San Mateo County is a "1938 act" County.

This little known provision of California State law means that the Board of Supervisors has the authority to modify employee pension benefits for county employees, including establishing a tier with reduced benefits that would be applicable for new hires.

Michael Stogner pledges to lead pension reform efforts if elected to the Board of Supervisors. This initiative will save the taxpayers of this county hundreds of millions of dollars if successful.

This is why the public employee unions in San Mateo County fear Michael Stogner.
