Cyclist killed by VTA train
Other Topics, posted by Teri Markle, a resident of another community, on Apr 2, 2007 at 11:54 am

To Whom it may concern. My brother Douglas K. Cowger was killed last Wednesday by a VTA. He was riding his mtn. bike on his lunch break in Sunnyvale, with one of his co-workers. He did stop at an intersection and looked both ways. Doug was an excellent bike rider, and well trained in the all areas of bike safety. The VTA that hit him did NOT sound his bells, etc. When Doug saw the VTA he tried to get out of the way. The VTA clipped his handle bars and sent him flying in the air. Doug died instantly and felt no pain.

Funeral Services are on Tuesday, April 3rd at 12:00. They will be at the LDS stake center in Menlo Park. The stake center is located 1105 Valparaiso. The viewing will take place at 10:30 that same day (right before the service). Burial will be immediately after the service. Arrangements are being made by the Spangler Mortuary 650 Live Oak Ave.

You can email me at redcurlylady@yahoo.com for more information, etc. I will also be checking this throughout the next couple of days.

Thank you all the knew and loved him, and for your thoughts and prayers during this diffcult time for Doug's family.

We love you Doug!
