Bohannon should apologize for falsehoods

Original post made by Observer on Oct 27, 2010

Developer David Bohannon achieves a new low in Menlo Park campaigning by his multiple mail pieces asserting that Council Candidate Chuck Bernstein said the polar opposite of what in fact was actually said. Even in this highly charged political season, there is no room for Bohannon's spin of Chuck's easily verified, unambiguous statements.

Bohannon is promoting his vast Menlo Gateway project through ballot Measure T. Chuck Bernstein opposes Measure T, because its promoters greatly overstate the scope and timing of its benefits to the City, and greatly understate the many costs and burdens it would impose. If passed, Measure T will over time worsen Menlo Park's already-severe financial problems, problems that Chuck has identified as being Menlo Park's most pressing issue.

David Bohannon evidently fears that his Measure T won't succeed on its merits, so he's apparently trying to deflect attention from its deficiencies by attacking a candidate who opposes it. Bohannon would do better at this point by publicly apologizing for energetically disseminating what he must know are falsehoods.

David Bohannon apologize for his smear campaign against Dr. Bernstein! You have to be dreaming, but what a nice dream.

Bohannon won't rescind his statements that $1.8 millions will flow to the local schools, which is an out and out lie.

The truth has been well documented at:

Web Link

The only way to get satisfaction on these issues is to:

Vote for Chuck Bernstein for Council and

Vote No on T.

Morris, if you are saying that your alarmist mailers are not misleading, you have lost all credibility. You may think private negotiations with developers are okay, even if you are using the taxpayers money through city attorney time, but you cannot believe that your fear literature stands the truth test.

I just assume that you believe all is fair in politics so you send out these missives just like Mr. Bohannon has justified his reason.

You both should be ashamed of your misleading documents.

Mr. Bohannon-
SAVE A TREE and stop mailing out multiple hit pieces. I can't wait for the election to be OVER. I hate the smear tactics and wasted paper resources.

TRUTH--when we agree, which granted isn't often, we REALLY agree. Very well said.
