MA Bears lose second game to El Camino
Sports, posted by Linda Lange, a member of the Menlo-Atherton High School community, on Mar 31, 2011 at 9:57 pm

The MA Bears Varsity baseball team succumbs to El Camino's pitching for the second time this week suffering their 4th loss in 5 games with a score of 4-6 at home on the last day of March. El Camino's lefty Rios pitched a complete game staying out of the center of the plate and keeping the Bears hitters reaching. They only struck out twice, but hit 8 fly balls to the outfield for outs and scattered 4 hits including a double by Sam Falkenhagen who was cut down at the plate on an attempted squeeze. Miles Brewer, for the Bears, had a shaky first inning giving up 2 runs and 3 hits, but then settled down throwing 4 innings with only 1 batter over the minimum. In the 5th, El Camino's Pastora blasted a triple followed by Knudson's double knocking Brewer out of the game. The Bears rallied with 2 hard fought runs in the 6th (walk, error, sac bunt and 2 RBI single by Case Warren) and a run scored by Alex Aguair who walked and scored on an RBI single by Kyle Zirbes for a total of 4 runs. El Camino added on 2 more runs in the 7th to win 6-4. On the bright side for MA, the defense, when El Camino had runners on first and third in the 6th picked off the runner at first while holding the runner on third. Also good news for the Bears is Sam Falkenhagen blasting out of his slump with a double to center. The pieces are there Bears and April is a new month!
