Bears Bats beat Hillsdale 10-3
Sports, posted by lindalange@earthlink.net, a resident of the Atherton: other neighborhood, on Apr 29, 2011 at 11:05 pm

The MA Bears varsity baseball team put it all together and with pitching, defense, hitting and base running, evened the score against the Hillsdale Knights beating them 10-3 on April 29. Scoring for the Bears was a team affair started by catcher Cam Winn hitting a single up the middle and then scoring on a single to right by Kyle Zirbes who scored from first on a single to right by Nick Lange. After 2 walks and two consecutive singles by Dylan Cook and Ryan Cortez the Bears scored 5 runs. The 4th saw not only 4 consecutive singles (Eason, Zirbes, Lange & Brewer) but also aggressive base running with double steals by each pair: Eason and Zirbes who then scored on a wild pitch, followed by Nick Lange and Myles Brewer who stole 2nd & 3rd, then Lange stole home on a wild pitch but Brewer was called out. In the 5th, senior Kyle Zirbes, for his third hit of the game, blasted a 2 run home run over the left center fence.

Pitcher Nick Lange held the Knights to 6 hits scattered over 5 innings and 3 runs with running catches from his outfielders, Sam Falkenhagen, Myles Brewer, and Michael Abramson. Dylan Cook came in in the 7th and retired all three of the batters faced.
