In the May 16 issue of the Almanac, which most homes will receive on Tuesday, May 15, is a story about Chris Paine, who grew up in Portola Valley, and recently returned to his alma mater, Menlo School, to talk about writing and directing the acclaimed documentary, "Who Killed the Electric Car?"

Do you have any experiences with electric cars? Big ones? Fast ones? or the little neighborhood electric cars that buzz around town? Please share your experiences by commenting below.

No cars, but I recently did ride a Segway for several hours. It takes a few minutes of training and then it becomes intuitive. Up to 12 mph. Four of us whizzing around the Marina. Wonderful. It's like walking really fast with wheels. How green can you get under power!

Electric cars are great.

Quiet,

smooth power,

lots of low end torque,

no emissions,

etc.

You can recharge them from solar power collected from your roof.

I drive one that was spared from the crushers of 2003.

Hopefully a new generation of electric vehicles appears to provide an ongoing alternative to internal combustion vehicles.
