As a regular shopper at Draeger's, and a disabled person, I too oppose any reduction in the size of the parking lot adjacent to the market. How would I get my bags of groceries to a more distant lot?????

Why did the Draegers not mention their concerns when they spoke in front of the Planning Commission? Kind of cheap to take this route.

That said, the downtown plan was crafted with the aid of big development interests. It's not supposed to serve either existing merchants or the residents, but to provide the most generous payback to those who may want to exploit new zoning that allows greater density and a diversity of uses. (Never mind that constructing offices in the middle of downtown does not help most residents one bit!)

The majority of MP residents are still unaware of this process because they are too busy with their day-to-day lives to know what games our city staff and their consultants are playing. Wait until the first monster buildings start going up on El Camino -- then you will hear the howls.
