PG&E e-mail on power outages in Sharon Heights
Menlo Park, posted by Andrea Gemmet, Almanac staff writer, on Jun 18, 2007 at 10:44 am

This message is from PG&E spokeswoman Roxanne Cruz, and has been forwarded among Sharon Heights residents by Virginia Chang Kiraly:

Your area has experienced many outages with in the past month. I understand this has caused you a bit of frustration.

On 6/13/07 - underground crews began working to replace approximately 2,000 feet of failed cable contained within 4-inch conduit along Sand Hill Circle in Menlo Park.

On 6/14/07 - underground crews continued working to replace approximately 2,000 feet of failed cable along Sand Hill Circle in Menlo Park while overhead crews began work to install temporary overhead lines on the same route to pick all customers while the underground repairs are made. This work requires the temporary installation of wood poles.

Overhead and underground crews from throughout the Bay Area and beyond are on-site to complete permanent repairs as soon as possible.

We plan to have the temporary overhead installations in place for approximately 30 days and we are bringing in portable back-up generators to maintain reliability in this area.

We also sent out a pre-recorded message to all customers who experienced this outage explaining that we are aware that you may have experienced multiple outages in your area over the past month. We are working to restore power in your area and the problem has been isolated to a failed underground cable. Your service may be temporarily impacted as our crews work aggressively to complete permanent repairs. We recognize that uninterrupted power is critical to our customers, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these outages may have caused. We encouraged our customers to call the 1-800-PEG-5000should questions arise.

Power has been re-established. About 390 customers experienced an outage in the evening when crews switched the circuit load to the new temporary overhead line. You may have been a customer who experienced this.

Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you, Roxanne Cruz PG&E, Governmental Relations 77 Beale Street #2977B MC B29K SF., CA 94105
