Regarding wise use of scarce transportation dollars, the San Jose Mercury published an article today on the areas most congested commutes based on fresh data from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), a prominent regional transportation body.

This best available data tells us that only 8 of 159 "Congested Freeway Locations" suffer *less* delay than the Dumbarton auto bridge. Given these facts, can we understand if projects to address the scores of more congested commutes are in fact funded and underway? Is $595M for Dumbarton truly the wisest use of scarce transportation funds?
