Diesel Exhaust from Stanford Dirt Moving Project
Around Town, posted by Wants Clean Air, a resident of the Menlo Park: Stanford Hills neighborhood, on Oct 15, 2012 at 1:01 pm

Over the weekend I noticed Stanford moving a mountain of dirt at the edge of the golf course near the old barn and equestrian center. They had several bulldozers lifting dirt onto ~20 trucks (some with trailers). The trucks were continuously travelling on a loop that included Electioneer Drive to Campus Drive, Right on Junipero Serra. I'm not sure where the dirt was dumped, but the trucks proceeded back down Sand Hill, right onto Stock Farm Road right onto Campus Drive and back in on Electioneer to the dirt mountain.

My complaint is that the trucks were old and clearly dirty -- I'm surprised the air district doesn't require them to use less polluting newer trucks with particulate filters. This activity exposed us all to a significant amount of diesel particulate over the weekend.
