9 Years later a supervisor finally tries to implement a 9 year old grand jury recommendation..
Around Town, posted by MIchael G. Stogner, a resident of another community, on Nov 19, 2012 at 11:35 am

Supervisor Dave Pine is trying to implement a Grand Jury recommendation from 2003. No other Supervisor has done this. Mark Church, Mike Nevin, Jerry Hill, Rose Jacobs Gibson, and Rich Gordon were all on the Board when the Grand Jury recommended they protect Whistleblowers in San Mateo County. Why did the other 5 Supervisors ignore the Grand Jury. Thank You Dave Pine. Web Link

Supervisor Don Horsley didn't want to hear about it.

Thank You Supervisors,

This is what has not been accomplished since 2002. Single Point Contact/Data

Establish a single point of contact for all such complaints within the Board of Supervisors offices or assign coordination to an outside agency under contract to the County.

Include coverage for members of the public, vendors and others serving the County.

Whistleblower plan gets yanked again

Editor,

Don Horsley made sure that item number 9 was removed from the agenda before the public could even hear the presentation. The supervisors should at least be open to hear plans and ideas form other supervisors. Dave Pine asked his fellow board members to at least hear the presentation on the plan before yanking it from November 20th agenda. That did not happen, That is exactly what a presentation is all about. I believe that Don Horsley's behavior was shameful. Lets take a look at the idea, its been 10 years since the Grand Jury made a more powerful recommendation. Single point contact for reporting crimes not just fraud. Independent from the county officials and supervisors. How else can we possibly protect our employees?
