Menlo Park, posted by Editor, The Almanac Online, on Jan 22, 2013 at 12:54 pm

Looks as if Menlo Park got many of the items on its wish list for the development agreement related to Facebook's plans to develop a second campus on Constitution Drive.

"City officials have emphasized their desire for ongoing revenue and funding for infrastructure improvements for community benefits such as easing the increased burden on transit and schools"

MP schools are a point of pride in our community, yet I cannot remember a time when the City has given much thought to the burden it increasingly places on them. MPCSD is busting at the seams, despite the bond-financed addition of classrooms and renovated/replaced facilities completed over the past 10 years. Other than traffic concerns, I haven't seen the City give much consideration to how its decisions impact our schools. New Facebook families will join other young families enticed by MP's desire to increase housing near transit and provide for lower income families. I fear the City's stated concern is a sham, and would like to see how the City actually plans to use Facebook $$ to reduce the burden on schools. Can your reporter please dig deeper?

The City of Menlo Park is only motivated to look after its own narrow interests and it always ignores the impact of these projects on other entities like the school districts and the fire district.

yep, menlo park is really gouging facebook. a company worth $60 Billion+ being expected to support the community they're located in to the tune of $170,000+ a year. is there no end to city council's greed, mr. carpenter?!?

@neighbor

always a red flag of a poor argument when one conflates balance sheet and income statements to make a point (except a point about overvaluation)
