Recently the Menlo Park Historical Association (MPHA) hosted the Clock Tower - 25th Year Anniversary Celebration. The Clock Tower, built in 1987 was designed by famed and local architect, Al Hoover, constructed by Vance Brown and Sons (who built the Arrillago Recreation Buildings) and underwritten by local philanthropist Tom Ford. The Clock Tower has withstood the test of time and become an icon to not only the City of Menlo Park, but to many non-profit organizations and others, as seen on their website and promotional materials. It is located at the base of Santa Cruz Avenue, at the Train Station.

Recently cable network, Channel 27 and Channel 28 has decided to carry a 30 minute video of the event. The video features Mayor Kirsten Keith, Mayor Pro Tem Peter Ohtaki, Gary Wimmer, Richard Campbell,AIA, Paul Bunton,AIA, Richard Brown and Allan Brown along with the musical talents of Martan Mann (keyboard), Gail Dobson (vocalist) and Sophie Cheung (age 5). Sophie sang the song Tomorrow from the popular play and movie, Annie.

The Menlo Park Historical Association, established nearly 40 years ago in 1971 proudly hosted this event. In addition, special thanks go to the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce, Caltrain, the City of Menlo Park and many others for their support of this family friendly, community-wide event.

The City of Menlo Park, in preparation for the event, recently painted the Clock Tower. Special thanks is extended to Ruben Nino, Carl Thomas and other members of the Public Works Department. The clock tower looks great and may be seen by nearly 90 trains passing by each day, and by the many passengers coming both to and from the train. The train station is part of what is commonly known as the Menlo Park Transportation Center, which serves the needs of not only train passengers, but is also a hub for bicycles, cars, taxi's and buses.
