San Mateo County Amber Alert not on same page yet.
Around Town, posted by Michael G. Stogner, a resident of another community, on Sep 8, 2012 at 10:14 am

We need to have all Police Departments in our County on the same page regarding what qualifies for an Amber Alert. The Maffei case had a fantastic ending with both children recovered and returned to their mother in South San Francisco.

What we did not have was an Amber Alert. If one was issued the first day Tuesday it is less likely he would have sailed out of the bay. Lets get San Mateo County law enforcement on the same page on this issue.

Michael,

A quick Google search on Amber Alert Protocol yields one from your very own County:

I think this means everyone should be on the same page.

The better questions are:

Was the protocol followed?

If so, what was it about the set of circumstances in this situation that did not allow for an Amber Alert?

Does the protocol need to be changed?

Mr. Maffeis's bail has just been increased to $500,000
