The City invested in the center and now they are giving out grants to get people to use the Center and/or having to pay an outside partner to recoup its investment.

What about this doesn't sound right?

It is the result of politicians making ill-informed, feel-good decisions that cater to a small group.

So now that the City County bargained for 55 "free" events every year, they're trying to figure out what to do to fill the space. Heaven forbid they would have thought about their needs FIRST.

Cline is the only council member still around from that decision. This could be a gret public benefit for any group able to cover the minimal fees.

Mr. or Ms. Benefit: Mr Cline had nothing to do with the decision to give the Sequoia School District a 2.6M contribution to the building of the theatre. Nothing. Nada. The idea came from Council Member Lee Duboc (2002 - 2006) who offered the money to the school district unsolicited. Winkler, Jellins and Collacchi joined her in the vote. I don't recall if Kinney voted for it but, it was probably unanimous. Imagine, $2.6M from the General Fund! The money could have been used to get the Belle Haven Police Sub Station built. On the East side of the freeway the shootings and the deaths mount but on the West side the theatre lives on.

Lets give our new council member, Ms. Carlton a hand for thinking outside the box! I hope she also has some good ideas for how to make the Stanford Medical Center project on El Camino Real a more integrated development than what seems to be the University's initial proposal.
