Original post made on Dec 14, 2007

Dr. Mark Sontag promised his family he would not coach again. But when another dad approached him with a deal -- if Mark would coach the U14 boys AYSO soccer team one more year, he would co-coach with him -- the always-willing Mark agreed. But when the co-coach dropped out because his son decided not to play, Mark was left with the commitment to coach, with no assistance, and not enough players to form a team.

Everyone contributed on offense and defense. Everyone played every game. Everyone scored. Everyone plays. This is the essence of AYSO. What is Dr. Sontag's secret?

Dr. Sontag is a great coach who inspires all players to do their best. He's positive, upbeat and encouraging. What more could anyone ask? Oh yes, he also makes playing FUN.

Dr. Sontag is a great doctor too. He has really helped me with my back problems. What is his secret to being able to do so many things so well?

Like Dr. Sontag, P.V. AYSO had a great coach about 17 years ago. Our coach, Dennis Reichardt, brought out the best in his players. Sadly, Dennis passed away this year. Everyone who played for Dennis, will always respect the way he taught the game.
