Mr. Carpenter:
Thank you for being one of the really sane voices in this entire area as well as California.
I am so impressed by most of your informative and helpful commentary no matter what area involving our County or State.
Your information is concise, understandable and real.
I am annoyed at how big business skirts the truth and gets caught up avoiding their taxation responsibilities. To investigate such actions since proposition 13 became profitable by creative or lax groups who are part of a way of life in the U.S.
It is GREED and has saved many business and corporations through their attornies or legislation in lobbying which has done nothing to bring the extra income which could have been used-----it amounts to millions-----for schools and areas which focused on our children, and all who could have used new libraries, gymnasiums and who knows what instead of going into the pockets of those who took advantage of the rates which they should have had to pay.
If one examines the condition of this entire country, most of the people who have become richer because of circumventing or legally manipulating tax laws to make fortunes; is evident in the condition of our economy, our misrepresentation in business and industry and all places where people take laws akin to proposition 13 and managed to create a plethora of rich thanks to creative bookkeeping;while citizens lost out. The manipulation of taxes by businesses done in "creative" ways has made America famous for hiding behind the law with the aid of lawyers---the richest ones.It once was amusing to hear lawyer jokes, but now very few people are laughing including the ones who got done in by the banks who held their loot.
