"Police in Gilroy arrested a San Mateo County sheriff's deputy Thursday at his home on charges he sexually abused a girl in his family over the course of several years, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.
Galen Underwood was scheduled to be arraigned yesterday and faces seven felony counts and one misdemeanor count related to an alleged ongoing sexual relationship with a girl in his family who was under 14 when the molestation first started, according to prosecutors.
Charges range from rape by forcible object, oral copulation of a person under 16, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and lewd acts upon a child.
Underwood has worked for the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office since January 2005 and had been out on disability the past few months, according to the Sheriff's Office."
"Underwood, 40, is currently on paid administrative leave. Sheriff's officials in San Mateo County told the Daily Journal they only became aware of the allegations after Underwood was arrested Sept. 26 in Santa Clara County."
I find it hard to believe that the San Mateo Sheriff's office only found out about this after his arrest on September 26. What is Underwood on leave for? Why has the paper not given us the reason?
Will Wagstaffe defend this guy as he did Sheriff Munks and Undersheriff Bolanos after they were caught at the house for underaged prostitutes?
