Prevailing wage laws guarantee inefficiency in government.

Government agencies should not discriminate against contractors on the basis of wages paid to workers. That is a privileged area of contracting between employer and employee. Union sponsored laws, which have codified such discrimination, result in added cost to governments(taxpayers) at all levels.
An initiative constitutional amendment could clear out such costly laws.

Let's look at Gov Brown's popularity, and the vote totals (or any polled popularity) of the posters in this thread who have also run for governor.
Let's see.... hmmmm, yup, here we go: Gov Brown, (the old fella who spanked the billionaire who wanted to cut her own cap gains tax rates and cheated her maid,) still hovers over 50% approvals. Compare to the other poster above, when he ran, he got 5,000 votes.
In a state of 30 million people.
I'm with Brown. The ol' man is doing fine. A few disagreements here and there, but hands down better than Meg ("I like illegals until I get caught") Whitman. Any one checking on the citizen status of the cleaning staffs outsourced by HP lately? Wanna bet they're not documented? After all, a billionaire cannot change her spots.

You can look at Brown's popularity all you want. That doesn't change the fact that "prevailing wage" pay for public works costs us far more than we should have to pay for civil service projects. "Prevailing wage" is determined by what total compensation is for UNION labor. The majority of construction workers in this state are non-union and don't cost anywhere near what union labor does. If the state didn't require prevailing wage on public works projects we could get our projects built for significantly less money than we now pay. I can tell you from personal experience, union labor is much less efficient than non-union labor at a much greater cost. What a bargain! And people wonder why public works projects cost a ridiculous amount of money.
