Running Boston Marathon at age 80

Original post made on May 3, 2011

Portola Valley resident Ruth Anne Bortz celebrated her 80th birthday in October and on Monday, April 18, completed the prestigious Boston marathon. To prepare for the marathon, she ran 50 miles a week on Portola Valley roads and trails, including eight 20-mile days. "I love this town," she said. "I run a lot on Windy Hill and on the trails." ==I Photo by Michelle Le/The Almanac.==

Congratulations on the marathon. I wrote to Wally then a friend passed this article on to me.
I'm glad your knee is holding up for long distance running, and good for you to include the grandkids!!
