Is this case being tried in Santa Clara or San Mateo County? If the molestation didn't occur in San Mateo, why should they be informed of the charges? Who is John William Smith? What does he do and where does he live?

Lurker good questions, The case is in San Mateo County Courtroom 2D, the alleged crimes took place in the Menlo Park home which is in San Mateo County and Steve Wagstaffe's Office filed the charges. As of Friday the jury was stuck at 6-6

So one of your concerns is that the San Mateo papers didn't write about it? Or perhaps were never notified by Wagstaffe about it?

Lurker, You are correct again, I have googled his name and have checked at other papers archives and have found ZERO articles Not a word regarding this case.

Why was this case protected from the public? You and I both know that District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe feeds some reporters in the media stories he feels are newsworthy. I think this case was newsworthy, this SMC child only reported this as one tragic event was unfolding.

The jury came back, again, deadlocked in a 6-6 vote. The district attorney's office will decide friday whether to retry this case.

This is all too common - the accused goes free - and they're not always innocent. I join Mr. Stogner in wishing the victim (must I say alleged victim?) best wishes & health.
