Lt. Ruggeiro has been a thirty-year resident who has not just resided here, but actively participated, along with his late wife Virginia, in all aspects of Atherton's civic affairs.

A regular attendee and participant in council meetings and commission member make him supremely qualified for this job.

And his deep police management experience make him supremely qualified to deal with for all intents and purposes, the Town of Atherton, which now equals its police department in terms of budget and employees.

As a veteran police commander, Lt. Ruggeiro knows the issues cops face. His son is a San Francisco police officer. He knows what is competitive pay and what is going way beyond that.

Atherton could not have gotten a better candidate for council member.

And the smears start.

Lt. Ruggeiro opposed the library in the park.

He endorsed Denise Kupperman, who was a fine candidate whom Elizabeth Lewis congratulated during the first council meeting for her honorable campaign.

He's in tight with everyone since he's been in town participating for 30+ years.

Get it?

I hope the other 4 council members pick the best candidate, and not refer to "us two against those two"

The current council members should consider the past election. Conlon put himself out to the public and received a large number of votes.

Credit goes to all that those that apply and they should consider running for Carlson's seat in 2014.
