The man behind the construction
Ahmad Sheikholeslami has worked for the school district since 2006. He sounded delighted that the younger of his two daughters will attend second grade at Encinal this year, and get to enjoy the fruits of her father's labor.
"It has been a wonderful experience for all of us and I find myself very fortunate to be able to do what I love and have my children see and experience the results of our work here," he said.
Mr. Sheikholeslami developed his childhood love of planning and building into a civil engineering degree.
"It brings me great joy to know I am part of something that will last and serve the people for generations to come," he said, although the work does have its downsides — namely, having to explain why a project may be behind schedule or over budget, and the mounds of paperwork that come with shepherding design plans through the regulatory process.
He said he spends an average of 50 hours a week overseeing school construction, and praised the efforts of colleagues, counting his good fortune to have a staff and consultants who are dedicated and put in countless hours to meet deadlines.
