Bookmark and Share
Ralph J. Calcaterra died June 18 surrounded by family at his home in Atherton, where he resided for 47 years. He was 93.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, at Nativity Church in Menlo Park.

Born in Norway, Michigan, he was raised in Iron Mountain, Michigan. In his 20s, he moved to California, where he built his land development and property management businesses in California and Las Vegas.

"An avid drummer, he played for years, and would often be seen tapping his feet at the office while listening to his beloved 49ers or Big Band music on the radio," family members said.

He was active with the Peninsula Volunteers and a benefactor to Nativity Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ferne, son Richard, daughter Melissa, and three grandchildren. The family expressed gratitude to Angie Guitierrez for the outstanding care she provided to Mr. Calcaterra.

Memorial donations may be made to Peninsula Volunteers. The mortuary is Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel.
