Woodside singer, actress releases single from albumSixteen-year-old Julia Belanoff of Woodside has just released "Goodnight San Francisco," the first single from her upcoming classical-pop album, "Winner in Your Heart," which will be released in January.
"Goodnight San Francisco" is now available on iTunes.
The album of original songs is being produced by Max DiCarlo, who has worked with Elton John, Donna Summer and other top recording artists.
A junior at Woodside High School, Julia studies voice with Debra Lambert, chairman of the department of music and vocal arts at Notre Dame de Numur University. Active in local theater since she was a child, she met her manager, Michael Lederman, while auditioning at Coastal Theatre in Half Moon Bay, where he was artistic director.
She is appearing through Dec. 4 as Tillie in "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds" at Custom Made Theatre in San Francisco.
In 2010 she was a singer and "dancing elf" on a float in Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City.
Julia describes "Goodnight San Francisco" as a love song to the city. She composed the song one hot, humid night, while enrolled in a summer program at Columbia University in New York City.
"I thought about how cool and nice San Francisco is, even during the summer. New York is where I will probably eventually live, but I will always consider the Bay Area my home," she says.
Julia is the daughter of Corcept Therapeutics CEO Joseph Belanoff, M.D., and Katherine Blenko, M.D.
