Around town: Baylands walk, talk

The Committee for Green Foothills will host an educational presentation and hike at the Baylands from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 24, from the Lucy Evans Baylands Nature Center lecture room, 2775 Embarcadero Road in Palo Alto.

Enid Pearson, Florence LaRiviere, and Eileen McLaughlin will talk about their experiences fighting to preserve the wetlands and open space. The event will be followed by an optional birding session.

Reservations are required for this free event, which is open to the public. Contact Karin at 968-7243, ext. 340

Jazz at Filoli

The Filoli estate in Woodside will host six Sunday afternoon jazz concerts on an outdoor stage for the 22nd year, beginning Sunday, June 24.

The series opens with the Pat Martino Trio at 1:30 p.m. June 24. The trio includes Mr. Martino on guitar, organist Pat Bianchi, and drummer Carmen Intorre Jr.

A Jazz at Filoli ticket includes all-day admission to Filoli, snacks and drinks, including beer and white wine during the concert, and free parking. Gourmet lunch boxes are available for purchase in advance. Individual concert tickets are $50 for Filoli members and $60 for non-members. Box lunches are $18 per person.
