Free flu shots will be available from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the main fire station of the Woodside Fire Protection District at 3111 Woodside Road in Woodside. Appointments are not necessary.

Flu shots are recommended for people 60 or older and anyone with a long-term health concern, including diseases affecting the heart, lungs and kidneys and the immune system. They're also useful to avoid catching the flu. Children 6 months or older can be vaccinated.

For information on influenza and vaccinations, call the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at 800-232-4636. For information on the Woodside clinic, call 851-1594.
