Around Town: Bellarmine fashion show Nov. 10
Committee members are putting finishing touches on "Silhouettes of Style," the annual Bellarmine fashion show slated for Friday, Nov. 10, at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel. The fundraiser will include a noon luncheon and a black tie dinner dance.
Although Bellarmine College Preparatory is located in San Jose, it has traditionally drawn many of its students from the Menlo Park and Atherton area.
This is the 52nd year for the Mothers' Guild Fashion Show for Financial Aid, with all proceeds used to provide financial aid to qualified Bellarmine College Preparatory students. Nearly 20 percent of the student body will receive financial aid to Bellarmine this year, according to fashion show spokeswoman Jill Montanari.
In the last two years, the traditionally sold-out fashion show has contributed more than $500,000 toward the school's financial aid program.
"Silhouettes of Style" will have fashions from Talbots, Club Monaco, Eli Thomas, Macy's and Jessica McClintock, modeled by Bellarmine seniors and their mothers, faculty, and senior girls from Bay Area high schools.
Allen Denton and Lisa Kim, evening anchors for NBC Channel 11, will be masters of ceremony for the donation drawing during the black tie dinner.
For information on purchasing luncheon or dinner tickets, call 408-294-9224, ext. 209.

MP library celebrates Jerry Garcia, Ken Kesey
The Menlo Park Library will present "A Celebration to Share Memories of Jerry Garcia and Ken Kesey" on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A documentary of local memories of the late Mr. Garcia and Mr. Kesey will be shown. Finally, an open mike event will allow people to share more memories and be captured on film by Paul Raim.
There will be two speakers:

• Paul DeCarli of Menlo Park has anecdotes to share about Mr. Kesey.
Mr. Garcia of Grateful Dead fame was raised by his grandmother in Menlo Park.
