Redwood City takes in senior advocacy group
After being cut off from state funding, a nonprofit group that investigates complaints of abuse of senior citizens in care facilities has struck a deal with Redwood City: free office space in return for services.
On May 29, Ombudsman Services of San Mateo County held an open house at its new facility, located on the campus of the Veterans Memorial Senior Center at 711 Nevada Street in Redwood City. The group had previously been based in San Mateo.
In return for the office space, Ombudsman staffers will help the city to provide easier access to information and referral services for Redwood City seniors.
The organization investigates complaints by seniors in long-term care facilities, and works to resolve those complaints. For more information, visit ossmc.org.
